About Point North Profabrics
Point North Profabrics was established way back in 1974 on Anglesey, North Wales. Just called Point North in those days it offered tent, sail and cover repairs. A couple of years later, having developed a good stock of canvas and tent fabrics, the idea was born to offer these fabrics to customers by mail order.
Over the next three decades the amount of fabrics offered in the traditional paper catalogue grew and was complimented with a range of threads, webbing, buckles and other haberdashery items. As a result Point North had to relocate to a larger unit on Anglesey to cope with the growing business.
In 2005 Point North took its next big step, having a bespoke website built. This allowed customers to see colour images of the fabrics and products as well as detailed descriptions. It wasn't long before online orders were rolling in alongside the traditional telephone and mail orders. Point North became Point North Profabrics to reflect its web address www.profabrics.co.uk
In 2012 the decision was made to relocate the Business to larger premises on the outskirts of Chester. The repair and sewing service was ceased in favour of concentrating on the retail side. Being closer to the main Courier depots meant that orders could be shipped more quickly and efficiently. Bucking the general trend of automating everything we also identified that customers often needed help selecting the right products for their project and began encouraging customers to call and email to discuss their plans.
As Point North Profabrics reaches its 50th anniversary it continues to grow and evolve. We now ship hundreds of orders each week to home sewers as well as small and large companies throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the World. We continue to add new and interesting products to our range and strive to offer the very best service possible to our customers.
